I’ve never had a lot of interest in women’s golf, but since Daphne has shown a little bit of interest in learning to play, I thought a trip to the Safeway Classic LPGA event was in order. Thanks to a thoughtful friend (and reader – you know who you are!) we got some free tickets and headed off to Pumpkin Ridge for some Daddy/Daughter time.
Of course as we arrived, the skies opened in a torrential downpour driving the hoards into the “sample tent.” The bad news: wet people packed tightly into a small space, all angling for various samples.
The good news: free popsicles.
Once the deluge relented, it was off to the course to watch the “golf-ball mommies” (Daphne calls all adult women “Mommies”). She did a great job being quiet at the right times, and giving a polite clap after a good shot.
One highlight – South African golf pro Ashleigh Simon gave Daphne a signed golf ball, and won a tiny fan in the process.
We had a great time, and I think we’ll be back next year.
