Balloon Festival, Year 2

Look familiar? Round about this time last year, Pete was in China, and I took the kids to the Balloon Festival with my parents. This blog is officially repetitive and boring.
But a quick review: Tigard Festival of Balloons = Portlanders pretending it's summer while dodging raindrops, getting ripped off carnival-style, and seeing zero hot air balloons anytime after 6am. Still, it's just another example of how you can take an event that Pete and I would avoid like the plague under normal circumstances, throw our munchkins into the mix, and somehow it's all worth it.

A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village

If you have a membership to OMSI, it's worth checking out the Discovery Village in downtown Salem--it has reciprocal membership. It's a bit like the Portland Children's Museum but it has a gigantic outdoor play structure in the middle. We had a nice visit with Nana and Granddad and explored the museum together.

Daphne at the Dentist

Daphne did a great job at her 1st real check-up yesterday (she's sat in the chair before). I just happened to have the camera with me (really, folks, I'm not that obsessive about documenting).

Our dentist is fabulous, but I doubt if he sees many very young kids these days (the sugar-free lollipops in his prize box were looking a bit, shall we say, experienced). I think most little ones go to fancy kid-specialist dentists who go by Dr. First Name. I'm sure they're a lot like the place we took Daphne for her 1st haircut

Strawberries and Dirt Clods

Right about now, approximately half the moms in Oregon are taking their kids strawberry picking. Half of those are then blogging about it. So, here's mine.

I don't think James picked a single strawberry, but he did have an uncanny ability to find dirt clods the exact shape and size of strawberries. He was very proud of his discoveries.

Nope, sorry buddy, just another dirt clod.

See, now watch your sister.

Mmmmm....dirt clod...

Senior Pictures

I sent this picture to Pete, who's in Prince Edward Island on business this week. We were talking on Skype at the time and his comment was, "Hey, Daphne took her senior pictures!" Maybe we'll have to recreate this one in about 12 years.

Okay, and now that I'm here, I might as well post some more pictures from this week. The kids have really been "turning on the cute" as we like to say, so I can't help myself.

More fountains...

Cheers.

And my stinker from last post being much less stinkerish...

Fountain "Fun"

I'm putting "fun" in quotes because of this little stinker...

...who refused to start having a good time until I put him in the stroller to leave. Then Daphne lost it. Apparently I can only keep one kid happy at a time.

Whoops, I caught him smiling. Don't worry, it only lasted about 3 seconds.

Here we go, this is more like it...
