James Turns 2

This past weekend we celebrated James turning 2 years old. A party of sorts was already being thrown at our church (Fall Family Fun Night), so I decided we'd hijack these festivities for James' party. Why throw an extra party when a perfectly good and usable party is already mid-throw? No cooking or cleaning for me. Score. Certainly one dinner consisting entirely of hot dogs, nachos, soda, candy, cake, and pickles as the stand-in "vegetable" can't be all that bad.

So, above, we are waiting in high anticipation for the main event - the one and (thankfully) only musician, comedian, motivational speaker and evangelist extraordinaire - Dave the Horn Guy. Yeah, feel free to put all those adjectives in that last sentence in quotes if you like.

But I kid the Bulb-Horn Man. He was quite entertaining, and also kind enough to bring James up on stage for a rendition of Happy Birthday (video is on my Facebook profile).

Here's James opening his gifts afterward...
All in all, an eventful and memorable birthday for the little guy. He surely deserved it. What a great kid, if I do say so myself!

P.S. Here's his gift from Mommy and Daddy...

Seattle Getaway - brought to you by awesome grandparents

Hi! That's past Pete waving at you from the Experience Music Poject in Seattle. What, no munchkins in sight? Ohhhh, yes. Okay, we missed them.

In retrospect I probably should have struck some sort of pose for that one.

Pete mastering bass guitar.

At the Sci-Fi museum next to one of our favorite so-bad-it's-good movies.

Top of Space Needle. I'll spare you the pics of the needle from the ground, you've all seen it!

Dinner at Sky City. They were smart to have just the floor of the restaurant rotate instead of the whole top of the needle. Didn't know that before. Food was average but a fun experience nonetheless.

Sushi place across from our hotel. Cheap and yummy!

Making fun of sign for sushi place for writing things like "stewed purk" and "dairy specials!" as if we could write perfectly in Japanese.

Mariners vs. Yankees at Safeco Field. Ken Griffey Jr. was kind enough to honor our childhood by being the hero of the game.

Pike's, of course.

I wasn't expecting most of it to be indoors. Man, these Seattle folks are brilliant!

In which fish are thrown.

Amazing and amazingly inexpensive flower bouquet from the market.

Those were some highlights. Thanks again to Grammy and Grandpa for taking the kids!
